|
|
I remembered about reading this tip before, but while reading the April, 2008 issue of Saltwater Sportsman I was reading an article called "Tin-Man Tactics". In a sidebar a mixture of toothpaste and lemon juice or ketchup with a piece of synthetic steel wool was highlighted to clean and remove tarnish off old metal jigs. I grabed a couple of ketchup packs while getting lunch and when I got home I went straight to the garage to try it out. Since I didn't have toothpaste in the garage I just used the ketchup with a Scotch Brite Pad and cleaned up an old chrome bunker spoon. It worked great. The best part is that there is no scent that may turn the fish off from the cleaners and the ketchup will not pollute.
