Hi, I am in the process of purchasing a 1978 26' Pacemaker flybridge, but more about that when I own it. I grew up with wood in the 60s & 70s, doing all my baoting on the south shores of Long Island. My dad owned a 1956 23' skiff built by CC Galbreath & Sons. This all wood lapstrake beauty seemed rare to me only because I never have seen another one.
It had a 6 cylinder Chrysler Crown inboard. The interior was all mahogany. Stained interior cockpit floors with detailed hatchwork trimmed with polished stainless steel frames and lifting hardware. Mahogany lath interior sides, pilot station, fabulous clear wood transom, engine cover. All stained and finished with "chilled varnish". Lapstrake bottom & sides, monster keel. True labor of love, which I spent many hours scraping, sanding, painting, and playing around as I was a young kid. Pictures are few but I will post them at some tiime. Has anyone heard of or seen other CC Galbreath boats as this one formed my fondness of all the wood classics of that era. |
