Since GPS Chart plotters have become the norm for navigation the question of accurate display of the real charts has been a question. One habit I have got into over the past is when I go into a new area I always buy a updated paper chart to check things out. I have noticed on several friends GPS's that certain obstructions and soundings did not appear, which would ruin your day of boating. Thinking about this I always wanted to get the most popular Chart Plotters together to check accuracy of the displayed chart. I have found a site that has done that and the answer to the question of accuracy. NO not all GPS Chart Plotter display an accurate representation of obstructions and soundings.
